Bodil Kjær set out to create vases with "inner walls" that would make flowers appear more like they do growing in nature. Also, she wanted a vase that would show up a single branch or a single flower rather than a whole bunch. Bodil Kjær wanted to create forms, with the inherent possibility of interlocking, to form large beds of flowers indoors. That is how the cross vases came about.

Manufactured by Gullaskruf Glasbruk, Sweden for Torben Oerskov & Co, Denmark from 1962 to 1978.
